What Is NUCCA?

NUCCA is a specialized and advanced chiropractic technique

NUCCA, which stands for National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association, is a specialized technique, an advanced chiropractic training, that takes into account additional information and components. From this analysis, a NUCCA trained doctor can use very little pressure to improve health, and longevity.

This gentle, non-invasive technique was developed more than forty years ago to create a radical new way of healing that can help restore body balance and perfect health. The focus of the NUCCA work is the relationship between the upper cervical spine (neck) and its influence on the central nervous system and brain stem function. It is this relationship that affects every aspect of human function from the feeling sensations in your fingers to regulating hormones, controlling movement, and providing the ability to hear, see, think, and breathe.

NUCCA History

NUCCA was developed by chiropractor Ralph Gregory in 1966 based primarily upon the work he and John Grostic had performed before Grostic's death in 1964. This new style of upper cervical adjusting technique was taught in 1966 at the first NUCCA seminar in Monroe, Michigan. Since then, there are 250 trained NUCCA doctors.

In 1941, two chiropractors from Michigan, Dr. Ralph R. Gregory and Dr. John Grostic Sr., joined together in developing an accurate method of rebalancing the body by correcting a misalignment in the upper cervical spine. This procedure effectively helped reduce pain and discomfort and worked to enhance overall well being.

After the death of Dr. Grostic, Dr. Gregory formed the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) organization in 1966 in order to present educational seminars. He also established The National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research Association (NUCCRA)in 1971, which later became the Upper Cervical Research Foundation in 2007, to conduct extensive research related to spinal corrections of the upper neck region and its effects on improved health. Until his death in 1990, Dr. Gregory continued to develop the procedure by researching and instituting critical changes that continue to be utilized in many chiropractic practices today.

Dr. Marie Biek is amazing. She is not only an exceptional and talented chiropractor, but also super warm and caring. For each and every visit, she takes time to thoroughly listen and attend to what is going on with my body that day. And fixes it as well!

Dr Marie is new to Oakland as a hidden gem of a chiropractor that many people should know about.
